Our Professional Stud Services
A Professional, Carefully Managed Breeding Experience
At Mainecoon Cats Scotland, we take great pride in providing a safe, comfortable and carefully supervised breeding environment for all visiting queens.
We understand that bringing your queen to an unfamiliar environment can be a big step, particularly for first-time breeders. That is why we take a patient, responsible and individual approach to every queen in our care.
Our experienced stud male and dedicated breeding facilities allow us to provide a professional service where your queen's comfort, safety and wellbeing always come first.
What to Expect During Your Queen's Visit
1. Your Queen Arrives
When you bring your fully health-tested queen to our dedicated breeding quarters, we begin with a gradual and carefully managed introduction to our stud male.
We allow your queen time to settle into her new surroundings, helping her feel safe and comfortable before progressing to the next stage.
2. Initial Introduction
Your queen will initially be positioned safely outside our stud's spacious breeding enclosure.
This allows both cats to become familiar with one another's scent, presence and behaviour before any direct interaction takes place.
We believe these early introductions are important in helping create a relaxed and positive breeding experience.
3. Supervised Meetings
Once both cats have become accustomed to one another, we carefully introduce them under close supervision.
Throughout these meetings, we monitor their body language, temperament and reactions to ensure both cats remain comfortable.
We never rush this process, as every queen has her own personality and level of confidence.
4. Natural Courtship
Our experienced stud male is familiar with the natural courtship process and will respond to your queen's behaviour and signs of receptiveness.
This may include calling, scenting and other natural courtship behaviours.
We carefully observe their interactions to ensure your queen is comfortable and showing signs that she is ready to accept the stud.
Our approach is to allow nature to take its course while maintaining appropriate supervision.
5. Patience for First-Time Queens
For first-time or inexperienced queens, the introduction and courtship process can sometimes take a little longer.
Every queen is different, and we believe patience is essential to providing a positive breeding experience.
We never force interactions or rush the process. Instead, we allow both cats the time and space they need to become comfortable with one another.
Your queen's welfare will always take priority.
6. Mating Takes Place
Once your queen is relaxed, receptive and ready, our stud male will naturally begin mating with her.
Multiple matings may take place over several days, depending on your queen's behaviour and receptiveness.
This can help improve the opportunity for successful ovulation and conception, although pregnancy can never be guaranteed.
Throughout this stage, we continue to monitor both cats to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
7. Monitoring & Regular Updates
Throughout your queen's stay, we closely monitor her interactions, behaviour and mating activity.
We understand that leaving your queen in someone else's care requires trust, and we want you to feel informed and reassured.
We are happy to provide updates throughout her visit and, where available, CCTV footage of successful matings can be provided upon request.
Your queen will receive individual attention and care throughout her stay.
8. After Mating
Following successful matings, your queen may begin showing signs of coming out of heat.
However, it is important to understand that these changes alone do not confirm pregnancy.
Pregnancy can be confirmed through an appropriate veterinary examination at a later stage.
We recommend discussing pregnancy confirmation and ongoing care with your veterinary surgeon once your queen has returned home.
Our Commitment to You and Your Queen
Our aim is to provide a professional, responsible and stress-free stud service, where every visiting queen receives individual attention, patience and the highest standard of care.
We understand that every queen is unique, which is why we take the time to make each breeding experience as comfortable and positive as possible.
Your queen's comfort, safety and wellbeing will always come first.
